Beanball

Beanball by Gene Fehler

A quick read on so many levels, Beanball is not just a book for baseball fans. Told in free-verse poetry, it is really easy to identify with the voices of the 28 different narrators as they revolve around the story of Luke "Wizard" Wallace. Luke is on his way to becoming a great baseball player, when tragedy strikes. Hit by a beanball, Luke suffers a skull fracture that almost kills him and takes away the sight in his left eye. As he and the people who are affected by the incident tell the story, it is easy to identify with the emotions of all of the characters and see how one split second can change so many lives
