Girl Who Threw Butterflies by Mick Cochrane
Molly Williams
is an eighth-grader with more than her share of problems. Her father has died
in a car accident and her mother is spending all of her time working and no
time talking to Molly. Molly and her dad spent a lot of time playing catch in
their backyard when he was alive, and she decides to join the boys' baseball
team because she can throw a perfect knuckleball, something not many high
school students can do. Throughout the course of the baseball season, Molly
learned many lessons about relationships and overcoming adversity. Despite the
main character being a girl, anyone who has lost someone can relate to the
storyline in this well-written book.
