Inside Out & Back Again by Thanhha Lai
When Ha and her
family are forced to leave Saigon as refugees during the Vietnam War, she never
dreams she will end up in Alabama. Ha's story, told in poems, begins with the
life they are living in Saigon, where Ha's favorite thing is her mango tree,
and details their journey aboard a ship until finally being sponsored by a
family in Alabama. But Alabama is not home, and Ha must find her way in this
strange new world.
