Savvy

Savvy by Ingrid Law

Savvy in the dictionary is defined as "intelligence, common sense." But in the Beaumont family, a savvy is something that happens to you on your thirteenth birthday. Momma's savvy is that everything she does is perfect. Fish can control water and stormy weather. Rocket has power over electricity. And Mibs, well Mibs is about to turn thirteen, and she can't wait to find her savvy. But right before her birthday, Mibs' father is in a life-threatening car accident. Mibs is certain that her savvy will be the thing that can save him, but she's got to get to him first. Stowing away with her siblings and the preacher's kids on a Bible salesman's bus, Savvy tries to get to her father. Unfortunately the bus is going the wrong way. As the bus takes her further away from her father, it brings Mibs closer to understanding her savvy. Will it be something she can use to help her father, or will it be worthless to her when she finally reaches him?
