Ways to Live Forever by Sally Nicholls
You would think a
story told by a dying boy would be sad. And while there is some sadness to the
story, as eleven-year-old Sam is indeed dying of leukemia, he decides to spend
his last few months trying to do the things he wants to do and answering the
questions that nobody ever answers. We see how the people around him are coping
with his impending death as Sam himself narrates the story through journal
entries about what he is thinking, feeling, and doing before his death.
